[Her voice softens, and she reaches out to touch an unbruised section of his chest. But she doesn't say anything else as she withdraws her hand. Instead, she brings them both forward as her palms start to glow with a soft blue light.

He's embarrassed, she's just worried, and it shows. But she doesn't say another word as the healing process begins.]

You could say that.

[Thankfully, she doesn't ask any questions, and Jean watches the blue light from her hands with interest. He's had Xion heal him once before, and he wonders if Masaki's healing works the same way. Either way, it'll be good to get the marks off him.]

Can you make it so the burns don't scar?

Mm. I can try. They're not infected, and you're in pretty good health otherwise so...there's a good chance they won't.

[Still, it's going to take more than a second to get these healed. But that's all right, she just wants to be through. Besides, she's healed far worse then bruises before.

These look so nasty though...]

[Just imagine what it was like getting them, if you want to talk about nasty.]

[Jean waits patiently and quietly as she does her thing, watching her hands move and the light flicker.]

I really appreciate you doing this. I, uh... I didn't want Marco to see me this way.

[Oh, she's trying so hard not to. At least this is more soothing than whatever he did to get this way.]

I didn't think so. Don't worry.

[She offers him a smile.]

He'll see you as perfect as always.

[Jean chuckles awkwardly at that, and lifts one hand to the back of his neck. Congrats, Masaki, you've made him blush instead of the other way around!]

I don't... he doesn't remember being here before.

[For once! Score. She glances up, and offers him a quick smile.]

So that means he gets to learn your body, all over again. From your hair to your toes.

[Which she thinks isn't such a bad thing. Any boyfriend would want to body worship their lover right.]

[Masaki what are you doing you're making it wooooorse...]

[Which sounds downright appealing, really, now that he thinks about it.]

[Nonsense, she's making it better!]

Mm. Might be worth it to draw it out for a few hours. Maybe get him all relaxed before you pounce on him, right?

[Sorry Jean, she's a romantic. And the thought of Jean seducing Marco? Too much to resist.]

Oh gods, Masaki!

[Jean covers his face with one hand.]

I'm not going to pounce on him!

[His voice is muffled behind his hand, and serious.]

I was too aggressive when he was here before. He needs... he needs to decide if he wants me on his own.

There's pouncing and there's pouncing.

[Her voice is playful, at least for that sentence. But when she stops the healing, She reaches forward to hug him to her chest.]

Hey.

He cares for you. And I'm sure whatever choice he makes, it'll be because he wants it. Not because you want it.

[Jean will certainly take that hug, and maaaaybe cling to Masaki a little, hiding his face in her shoulder.]

I... I hope so. I hope he wants me again.

[Because Marco not wanting him is one of Jean's greatest fears, the one that led him down the self-destructive path than Masaki just erased the last vestiges of.]

I'm sure he does.

[She doesn't want him to go down that path again. Not if it could be helped. She turns her head to kiss his head, sighing.

She can't even call him dumb. Many people fear rejection.]

He cares for you Jean. I know it.

I know he does.

[Marco caring for him has never been the question.]

I just don't know how much.

[There's a big difference between friendship and the complicated, aching, cloying feeling he gets in his chest when he thinks about Marco now.]

Oh Jean.

[She's just going to hug him a little bit tighter.]

This place is so hard on you.

[He shakes his head against her shoulder.]

It's still better than home.

[That's it. Hair stroking? She's gonna do that now.]

Maybe it is. But...still.

[He looks up at her with one eye.]

I'd still rather be here than at home. Even if it hurts. Even if he doesn't care anymore. Because he's alive here.

[Hiding his face again.]

I'd rather have him be alive and love someone else than dead back home.

I get it. Really, I do.

[She laughs a little. If he only knew.]

I just wish it was easier for the both of you.

Well...

[Jean swallows and sits back, gently pulling out of her embrace. He looks down his front; the bruises are gone, and there's only faint, pinkish circles on his flesh where the burns had been. He runs a hand over himself, wonderingly, before looking up at her with a faint grin.]

At least if he wants to see me shirtless now, I won't be in for a lecture?

He won't.

[She pulls back, and props her hands on her hips, staring down at him.]

You're lucky that I don't sit on your face and smother you for being dumb. Seriously Jean.

[He winces. He deserves this lecture from her, he knows.]

It seemed like a good idea at the time?

Oh, sure, like it's a good idea to set your face on fire.

[She huffs at him.]

Look, I understand that you were in pain. Really, I get it. But....

[She heaves a sigh, and turns away.]

Please don't do that again. I'm sure the people from your world-your other friends, whatever-have been worried as hell about you. Maybe even more than me.

Armin complained a lot.

[And tended to Jean's wounds, and made him shower, and then held him when he cried. Really, he doesn't deserve a friend like Armin any more than he deserves a friend like Marco.]

I won't, though. I promise.

It sounds like he was with you a lot.

[She tsked him, before leaning down to kiss him on the forehead.]
